Standard Web Notes is a simple WordPress admin plugin that adds sticky-note functionality to the backend of a website. It is designed for administrators who want a clean place to store internal notes, reminders, website tasks, client instructions, or maintenance information directly inside WordPress.
The plugin creates a dedicated admin page under the shared “Standard Web” menu. From this page, administrators can add new notes, edit existing notes, delete notes, and choose a note color. Notes are displayed in the admin area and ordered by their last updated date, so recently edited information stays easier to find.
Each note includes a title, note content, color, creation date, and updated date. The note content is stored in a custom database table created on plugin activation. This keeps notes separate from posts, pages, WooCommerce products, or other public website content.
Standard Web Notes includes several predefined color swatches and a custom color picker. This allows administrators to visually organize notes by topic, priority, department, or any other internal system. For example, one color can be used for urgent maintenance tasks, another for content reminders, and another for client-specific notes.
The plugin is intentionally admin-only. It does not display notes on the frontend of the website, does not create public post types, and does not send notifications. Its role is to provide a lightweight internal note board for WordPress administrators.
Access is restricted to users with administrator-level permissions through the manage_options capability. Save, update, and delete actions use WordPress nonces, and note fields are sanitized before storage. The plugin also loads its admin styling only on its own notes page, avoiding unnecessary assets across the rest of the WordPress admin area.
Standard Web Notes is useful for agencies, freelancers, store owners, and website administrators who need a small internal documentation space without installing a full project management system. It can be used to remember plugin-specific instructions, content changes, launch notes, customer requests, temporary warnings, or internal maintenance steps.
The plugin does not try to replace advanced documentation tools, task managers, or team collaboration platforms. Instead, it provides a fast, straightforward way to keep important website-specific notes where administrators already work: inside WordPress.
